Horizon High School honored for graduates with highest GPA of U of A freshman

Paradise Valley School District Horizon High School has been selected to receive The University of Arizona’s 2007 Arizona Cup
Award
.

The Arizona Cup is awarded annually to the Arizona high school with 30 or more of its graduates earning the highest cumulative grade point average during their freshman year at the university. Horizon's 68 graduates from the class of 2006 had an average cumulative GPA of 3.38.

“This award honors the high school and students for their college readiness and their academic achievements," said Ryan Burton-Romero, assistant director of the UA Office of Admissions.

This award shows Horizon’s success in preparing students entering college as freshmen. In addition to the trophy, Horizon High School will receive a $2,000 scholarship to be given to a Horizon graduate entering the University of Arizona in fall 2008.
